Classmates Mourn Teen Who Died After Track Collapse

Memorial for 16-year-old Antonio Robas at G. Holmes Braddock Senior High

Students at a South Florida high school are mourning the death of their 16-year-old classmate who died this past Friday while running during P.E. class.

Antonio Robas collapsed Friday afternoon while running around the track at G. Holmes Braddock Senior High in Southwest Miami-Dade. The tenth grader was later pronounced dead at Kendall Medical Center.

It's unclear what caused the boy's death, but reports had indicated it was heat exhaustion.

Students returned to the school Monday, where friends said they planned to hold a candlelight memorial for Robas at the track where he collapsed. They plan to wear baby blue, his favorite color.

"I knew of the guy, I seen him in school," said freshman Eric Montero. "He was a good kid, I seen him with a lot of friends."

The Facebook page "R.I.P. Antonio Robas" was created shortly after the tragedy, and already has over 1,000 members.

"RIP Tony, that summer you spent with Lifeteen was one of the best I had," wrote Amber Fernandez. "It was an honor to know you, and I know you're with God. Love you."
