Crews Rescue Passengers From Pick-Up Truck After it Crashes Into Palm Tree in SW Miami-Dade

A pickup truck collided with a palm tree in southwest Miami-Dade Saturday afternoon, leaving two passengers trapped inside before rescue crews freed them from the wreckage.

Both passengers were transported to a nearby trauma hospital in critical condition, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said. Their identities haven't been released

Photos of the crash at Southwest 125th Avenue and Bird Road showed the trunk of the palm tree plunging into the windshield, shards of glass and broken tree branches surrounding the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue urges commuters to wear seatbelts and exercise caution when driving during light rain conditions.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the first 10 minutes after light rain starts are the most dangerous. MDFR cautions that the roads become very slippery during this time.
