2 Dead After Vehicle Goes in Lake off I-95 in Deerfield Beach: Officials

Divers were searching for additional victims

Two people have died after a Lexus SUV went into a lake off I-95 South in Deerfield Beach Wednesday night, authorities said.

Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky said the third victim, who was taken to Broward Health North in critical condition, may not survive.

Dive teams were searching to make sure no one else was still in the water early Thursday, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said.

He said earlier that Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue and Broward Sheriff's Office divers rescued the first victim after the vehicle went into a lake between Hillsboro Boulevard and SW 10th Street.

After a three-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of I-95, the Lexus SUV went down an embankment and ended up in the lake, Wysocky said.
