Police are investigating a crash that critically injured a driver in Coral Gables Sunday morning.

Coral Gables Police said the driver of an Izuzu Rodeo SUV was stopped at a red light at the intersection of South Dixie Highway and Riviera Drive just after 7 a.m. That's when police say a Ford Fusion rear-ended the Rodeo.

The driver of the Rodeo, identified as 53-year-old Serge Myrtil, was airlifted by Miami-Dade Air Rescue to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center with critical injuries.

The driver of the Fusion, 19-year-old Rolando Garcia, stayed at the scene of the crash. Police said that driver is being investigated for driving under the influence, as alcohol tests are pending.
