Elderly Couple Victims of Armed Home Invasion in Lauderhill

An elderly couple were victims of an armed home invasion robbery by a women who they know in Lauderhill Thursday.

The couple, who are in their 70s, were robbed at their home in the 1700 block of Northwest 51st Avenue, Lauderhill Police said. The man was tied up, with his hands and feet bound.

Police said the robber is a 30-year-old woman who was renting a room in the victim's house for the last three months. She demanded money then trashed the rooms looking for valuables.

The ordeal lasted about 10 minutes, then the tenant allegedly threatened to kill them and took off in the victims' car.

After officers responded to the scene, the woman returned to the scene and was taken into custody. She had the victim's car, personal property and a realistic-looking BB gun, police said.

Police haven't released her name or said what charges she'll face.
