Injured Miami Guard Bruce Brown Expected to Miss About 6 Weeks

Miami Hurricanes guard Bruce Brown Jr. is expected to be sidelined for about six weeks because of a left foot injury that will require surgery, meaning he's likely to miss the rest of the regular season.

The team says surgery is scheduled for Thursday. Brown suffered the injury in practice Monday. The Hurricanes (15-5, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) play at home Wednesday against Pittsburgh.

The injury is the latest setback in a disappointing season for Brown, a sophomore considered a possible NBA first-round draft pick this year. He's averaging 11.4 points and shooting 42 percent, including 27 percent from 3-point range. All of those figures are a decline from his freshman season.

If Brown is sidelined six weeks, his return would coincide with the ACC tournament.
