Just Joshin! Mayor Pulls One Over on Opposing Pol

Miami Lakes' Michael Pizzi thought it would be funny to deface a councilman's property

Normal 0 In a move that reminds us of the infamous freshman year Hall Monitor race of 1995 at Jefferson High, one Miami Lakes politician is claiming his latest prank was all in good fun.

According to the Miami Herald, on Thursday, Miami Lakes Councilman Richard Pulido pulled into Town Hall to meet with a resident, and when he came out, saw that his Volkswagen Passat had been vandalized - with two bumper stickers reading "The People's Choice."

That choice was Councilman George Lopez, who is running for re-election. Apparently Pulido has criticized Lopez for running, and it was Miami Lakes Mayor Michael Pizzi who pulled the whole bumper sticker thing -- which was caught on surveillance -- to back his buddy, Lopez.

"It creates fellowship, it creates camaraderie to have a joke," Pizzi, who called to apologize to Pulido later that night, told the Herald.

This wasn't the first time Pizzi, who we're guessing was that kid who pantsed nerds in the hallway, has played a practical joke: he once put an Obama decal on the car of Vice Mayor and uber-Repub Nick Perdomo.

Luckily the bumper stickers didn't cause any damage to Pulido's VW, but the councilman suggested that next time, Pizzi try a different "camaraderie" approach.

"Next time, buy me a beer."
