Meek Takes the Fast Lane for Senate Seat

Senate hopeful is hitching his campaign to a really fast car

Democrat Kendrick Meek might not be able to beat Gov. Charlie Crist or Marco Rubio in a race for the U.S. Senate, but they don't stand a chance against him behind the wheel.

The Miami U.S. Rep's campaign has hitched a ride with NASCAR nation in hopes of getting to the nation's capital a little faster. Meek will be the lead sponsor for Mike Wallace's No. 01 car once it hits the asphalt at Daytona International Motor Speedway on Feb. 13.

Hopefully, Meek won't feel the need for speed and take the wheel.

NASCAR Nationwide Series' opener precedes the Daytona 500. Meek will be in the pits for Wallace, according to CBS4. Meek has shown his love for race car driving by sponsoring bills as a state senator that would benefit NASCAR and other racing outfits.

A recent poll shows Meek trailing Republicans Crist and Rubio for the Senate seat left vacant by Mel Martinez.
