Police are searching for a driver who struck a pedestrian on a Northwest Miami-Dade street and then took off Wednesday night.
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. on 27th Ave. near Northwest 23rd St. as the man, later identified as 43-year-old Gil Rene, was crossing the street.
Police said they don't have a description of the vehicle that hit Rene. Some residents said they heard the crash but didn't see anything.
One woman was washing clothes when she heard a loud bang. She said she crosses that intersection with her daughter all the time.
"I'm just thinking tomorrow or the next day or earlier this week I ain't gonna be walking nowhere 'cause I'm scared somebody gonna ran me over," the woman said.
