Man Shot Outside Main Library in Downtown Fort Lauderdale

Police are investigating after a person was shot outside the Broward County Main Library in downtown Fort Lauderdale Tuesday.

The man was shot in the thigh outside the library at 100 South Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale Police said. He was taken to a nearby hospital where his condition was unknown.

Police said the shooting began as an argument between two men. The suspect fled the scene.

"I heard a lot of commotion," witness Stephanie Fair said. "Everyone scattered a couple floors down, we were asked to leave with our hands up in the air."

No other information was immediately known.
