1 Killed, 1 Critical in Double Stabbing in Miami

The stabbing happened in an apartment at 1122 Northwest 3rd Street around 4 a.m.

One man was killed and another critically wounded in a stabbing in Little Havana early Friday morning, police said.

Four men and one woman were socializing in an apartment at 1122 NW 3rd St. when there was an altercation around 4 a.m., Miami Police spokeswoman Frederica Burden said. A man pulled out a knife and stabbed two men.

“The victim was stabbed in the neck,” said Officer Burden. “The other is at Jackson Memorial. He was stabbed all over.”

Neighbor Mila Roman said she heard frightening screams and furniture being tossed around during the incident. Other neighbors expressed fear at the growing level of violence in the area.

“This is horrible. I’m here, and my mom lives here. We’re scared. We can’t even walk sometimes at night," neighbor Zoraine Vichot said.

Residents said the group at the apartment was doing more than just “socializing” and that one of the men was operating a house of prostitution in the apartment. Neighbors said this wasn’t the first time police had to respond to the apartment.

“Some weeks ago, we had a shooting in the apartment,” said Charles Magoffin.

Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot. Neither the suspect nor the victims have been identified by police.
