Man Rescued From Under Car Testifies Against Driver Who Ran Him Down

"I was running for my life because I know he was targeting me," the victim said

On Thursday a Fort Lauderdale man who had a car lifted off of him testified against the man accused of running him down.

In a Broward County courtroom, John Henry Hill took the stand in the sentencing hearing for Franklin Parker.

On Dec. 10, 2009, Parker got upset with Hill, who is his daughter's landlord, when Hill told him not to park on the grass.

"I've asked him repeatedly not to park on the grass in a nice, humble way," Hill said. "I've always been very nice to him."

Hill testified that's when Parker went off, yelling at him. Minutes later, Hill was under Parker's Ford Taurus.

"I was running down the sidewalk," Hill said. "I was running for my life because I know he was targeting me."

Hill's rescue was all caught on surveillance video. It shows bystanders lifting a Ford Taurus to free the unconscious man.

Hill has had three different surgeries because of injuries to his head, face, and pelvis. On the stand, he got emotional talking about what he's been through.

"Without God, I should be dead," Hill said through tears. "I shouldn't even be here. There's no way I should be living now."

Parker is charged with attempted murder and battery, and he could be sentenced to life in prison.

On the stand, Hill said he is afraid of Parker and wants him to "pay substantially for this."
