Marlins Activate Stanton from Disabled List

The Marlins activated Giancarlo Stanton on Tuesday which makes him immediately available

The Miami Marlins activated Giancarlo Stanton from the disabled list and he is available for Tuesday's game.

Stanton had been out with a groin injury since August 13th and was expected to miss the remainder of the season. Miami now has a big bat available to them off the bench in Stanton. For now, the slugger will be used in a pinch-hitting role only.

The Marlins have been tumbling in the standings due to nine losses in their last ten games. Part of the issue for Miami is the loss of three players in their every day lineup. Stanton, Justin Bour and Marcell Ozuna have all missed time during this difficult stretch.

Stanton took batting practice prior to Tuesday's game and the team made the announcement shortly after. There is no guarantee that Stanton will return to the lineup and play the field this season, but this is a good first step in the right direction for the Marlins.

In addition to Stanton, the Marlins activated Bour earlier in the day as well. Like Stanton, the first baseman will be used only as a pinch-hitter until further notice.

The Marlins will take on the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.
