Police Looking for Man Who Attacked Women on Miami Beach

Police are looking for a man who yelled profanity, punched and threw rocks at a woman and her daughter on Miami Beach earlier this month.

The incident happened June 1 in the area of Collins Avenue and 24th Street, according to Miami Beach police.

The two women said a man approached them and started calling them lesbians and that they should "go back to their country," police said in an incident report.

The victims started walking away from the man and telling him to leave them alone, the report said. But the man went up to the daughter and pushed her, and she thew the cup of coffee she was drinking at him in self defense. The man then punched her in the chest, and then punched her mother in the chest as well.

At that point, the man started throwing rocks at the women, the report said. When a crowd started gathering, he ran northbound on Collins Avenue, got into a taxi, and then ran out of the vehicle when it stopped on 26th Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 25 to 35 years old, 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11, 200 to 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is possibly homeless.
