Miami-Dade Man Accused of Sexual Battery on Young Girl

A Miami-Dade man is facing sexual battery charges after police say he had sex with a young girl.

Luis Armando Quintero, 23, was arrested Tuesday on two counts of lewd or lascivious battery on a child age 12-16 and one count of sexual battery on a minor by an adult, according to a Miami-Dade Police arrest report.

Quintero was being held without bond late Tuesday, jail records showed. His attorney asked for his release during a bond court appearance Wedneday but it was denied.

According to the arrest report, the girl, who is 12, told police Quintero had sex with her when she was 11 in her bedroom. They had sex again when she was 12 in his car, the report said.

Quintero admitted to having sex with the girl, the report said.

"He took advantage that he knew the family. He was able to befriend the victim in this case," said Alvaro Zabaleta with Miami-Dade Police.

Police said Quintero used social media to communicate with the victim.

Authorities confirmed Quintero is the son of the Parks Director for the City of Sweetwater.

In addition, they said he was picked up at the maintenance facility, where he works. He was then taken to the Miami-Dade Police Department's Special Victim's Bureau.

City officials told NBC 6 that Quintero has been suspended from work without pay.
