Miami Dolphins Tackled Twice – By The Weather

The Miami Dolphins were tackled two times Sunday - by the weather.

“Due to lightning in the area, play has been suspended,” South Florida’s NFL team said on Twitter. “Players will return to the field once it is safe to resume play.”

The game, which started at 1 p.m., was first delayed by lightning strikes in the second quarter of the game. The next weather delay began in the third quarter, as bursts of lightning flashed over the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

In total, there were four hours worth of weather delays during the game against the Tennessee Titans.

Tom Garfinkel, president and CEO of the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium, said the game resumed shortly before 7 p.m.

"All 300 level patrons are welcome to move down and find an open seat in the non-club 100 level seats," Garfinkel said on Twitter. "Thank you for your patience. Fins Up!"

In the end, though, the Dolphins emerged victorious: The team beat the Tennessee Titans 27-20 during an epic season opener.
