    What to Know

    • The league will announce their full 2019 regular season schedule sometime in April.

Fans of the Miami Dolphins could be enjoying a little pigskin to go along with their turkey and stuffing on Thanksgiving Day.

NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk, citing a story from Sports Business Journal, says the NFL is looking into having the Dolphins play the Dallas Cowboys during the holiday. Miami would hit the road as Dallas is one of two teams who annually host a Thanksgiving Day game along with the Detroit Lions.

The league will announce their full 2019 regular season schedule sometime in April.

It would be the sixth time that the Dolphins would play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, with the last time being in 2011. The 1993 game between the teams, played after snow blanketed the field inside Dallas’ former home, Texas Stadium, has gone down as one of the more memorable in league history after the Cowboys’ Leon Lett fumbled away a blocked field goal that gave Miami a chance at another kick to win the game.

In total, the Dolphins have played seven games on Thanksgiving in franchise history – five against the Dallas Cowboys along with a 1977 game against the then St. Louis (now Arizona) Cardinals and a 2006 game against the Detroit Lions, all played on the road.
