Miami Family Victims of Home Invasion Robbery

Police are investigating a home invasion robbery at the Miami home of a couple with two young children early Monday.

The home invasion happened around 3:20 a.m. at the home in the 1200 block of Northwest 28th Street, Miami Police spokeswoman Frederica Burden said.

No family members were injured but $300 was taken, Burden said. The suspects were reported to be two women.

The resident of the home, Maynor Martinez, said he was sleeping when two women broke in and demanded cash. He said the women pointed a weapon at his two young children, ages 1 and a half and two months.

The women took the cash and cell phones and fled the scene, said Martinez, who only spoke Spanish.

Maynor said he and his family moved to the U.S. from Honduras just three months ago.

The incident remains under investigation, Burden said.
