Miami Police Patrol Sergeant Victim of Hit and Run While Off Duty

An off-duty Miami Police patrol sergeant was hospitalized after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while on his motorcycle Friday night, officials said.

Sgt. Marvin Sanders was on his personal motorcycle when he was struck in the area of Northwest 15th Avenue and 61st Street around 7 p.m., Miami Police officials said.

According to police, a car in front of Sanders turned and struck him. The driver of the car got out of his vehicle, looked at Sanders on the ground and got back in his car and drove off.

Sanders was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center where he was in stable condition, officials said. He likely suffered just a broken leg, officials said.

Police said they're looking for a white older model Chevy Caprice with a blue antique license plate.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
