Victim of Armed Robbery Caught on Camera Speaks Out

Miami Police are investigating after an armed man walked up to two friends and robbed them while they were in mid-conversation in an incident caught on camera.

"Thank God I'm still here to tell you the story, man, because the other guy might not be so lucky," Jose Martinez said.

The robbery happened Tuesday evening in front of 1415 Northwest 21st Terrace.

According to detectives, the suspect approached the two men and demanded their belongings while wielding a gun. One of the men stood still because he did not have anything of value in his possession.

Surveillance video shows Martinez running for his life but he tripped while trying to make his escape. The suspect was then able to jump on top of him, point a gun in his face and snatch his bracelet, a gift from his wife, before running away from the scene.

"In that moment, you're looking in the barrel of a gun, you're thinking, hopefully he doesn't shoot me," Martinez said.

The suspect is described as a thin black male, clean shaven, 5'8" and 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, long black shorts and black shoes.
