A senior Pompano Beach couple were killed within their mobile home, according to police.

After days of not being seen, concerned neighbors checked on the couple. Instead, they made a "gruesome discovery" on Friday at the Golf View Estates mobile home park.

"Around 5:40 p.m. March 22, after the knock on the door went unanswered, the neighbor tried opening the door and found it was unlocked," the Broward County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. "Inside, the neighbor found the lifeless bodies of Marc and Rita Gagne."

A neighbor told NBC 6 the couple had lived there for about 30 years.

"It's pretty surreal knowing that it just happened like four houses down from you," the neighbor said. "Seeing this is unbelievable."

The deaths will be investigated as a homicide.

Anyone with information is urged to contact BSO Homicide detective Barbara Dyer 954-321-4262 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477. Tips, which are anonymous, that lead to an arrest are eligible for a $3,000 reward.
