Bad Gas Has North Miami-Dade Woman Fuming

Fake gas cost woman $1,000 in repairs.

Marie Farquharson says her trip to work came to an abrupt halt after filling up her tank.

Farquharson had to call a tow truck to haul her car away after a visit to the North Miami-Dade Valero Gas station at 163rd Street and Northeast 18th Ave. She says after driving a short distance, the car stopped. Farquharson blames contaminated gas.

"They sold me gas that caused my car to shut down," Marie said.

The service department at the dealership she took the car to gave her a sample of the gas.

The dealership didn't want to be interviewed, but NBCMiami obtained the service report on the car.

Marie plans to file her complaint, which indicated the mechanic found the trouble was contaminated gas and that the repairs to the damaged parts cost Marie almost a thousand dollars, to the state.

We also found other complaints against Valero -- one with the better busines bureau. The state agency that regulates gasoline told us it had four complaints against Valero in the last 30 days -- minor issues resolved.

Valero told us it was investigating and was diligent about making sure its gas meets all standards, but had not gotten any other complaints about the gas here.

State fuel inspectors told us they were here in Feburary and cited this Valero station for problems with its pumps, but not bad gas.
