An 18-year-old Pembroke Pines man was accused of sexually battering a 5-year-old girl, police said.
Dimitri Jamal Daniels was taken into custody Tuesday after an investigation into an incident between him and the girl on Sept. 9 at his residence in the 600 block of SW 66th Terrace, according to Pembroke Pines police.
An investigation revealed Daniels had been sexually battering the girl on multiple occasions and showed pornography to the victim, police said.
Daniels is a parishioner at Mount Pisgah Seventh-day Adventist Church in Miami Gardens and may have been in contact with children, so police believe there may be additional victims.
Pembroke Pines police initially said Daniels volunteered as a youth pastor, but the church later clarified he was just a parishioner and served in no official or leader capacity.
