Realmuto Powers Marlins Past Brewers

J.T. Realmuto homered twice to help his Marlins beat the Brewers 6-4 on Tuesday

J.T. Realmuto had a big day and it helped the Miami Marlins beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-4 on Tuesday at Marlins Park.

The rookie catcher hit two home runs and they were very different. Realmuto hit one ball out of the park for his eighth home run of the year. In his next at-bat, Realmuto hit one off the top of the wall in center-field. After the ball ricocheted off the wall, Milwaukee's center fielder chased after it to no avail. Realmuto would go all the way around the bases for an inside-the-park home run.

The adventure around the bases marked only the third time in franchise history that a Marlin hit one out of the park, and also another inside the park in the same game. Only Derrek Lee and Hanley Ramirez had accomplished the feat previously.

While Realmuto excelled, the news wasn't as good for his battery mate Adam Conley. The rookie only lasted 4.1 innings and kept finding himself in jams. To his credit, Conley worked out of the spots and only allowed two runs. Conley also struck out seven hitters which bailed him out more than once.

The short start meant that Miami had to turn to its bullpen earlier than it would have liked. Kyle Barraclough was first out of the pen and picked up the win due to his 1.2 scoreless innings of relief. Barraclough struck out four of the five batters he faced, and his stuff looked electric in the win.

A.J. Ramos would enter in the eighth inning after Mike Dunn found himself in trouble. Ramos picked up the last four outs of the game for his 24th save of the season.

Tom Koehler will take the ball on Wednesday as the Marlins try and win the series.
