Robbery Suspects on the Run Involved in Multi-Car Crash in Miami: Police

Police said two armed robbery suspects on the run were involved in a four-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Miami.

The Miami-Dade Police Department said its RID (or robbery intervention detail) units observed an older model green Toyota Corolla matching the description of a vehicle used in armed robberies.

When officers attempted to make a traffic stop, they said the driver of the car took off.

The Carolla was involved in a four-car accident at Northwest 17 Avenue and 68 Street in Miami.

Witnesses described the scene right after the violent crash.

"Everyone kept screaming 'please help him. help him, he's going to die'," one witness. "The man was gasping for a lot of air."

The suspect's car left a green mangled mess -- the driver trapped.

"We understand the driver of the vehicle had to be extricated by the jaws of life," said Lt. Iggy Carroll of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The car didn't belong to the suspects. "My car was stolen last night," said Chaquita Wilson. "I got the phone call to come here on the scene."

Just a block from her house, Wilson found her car skidded across the road. It was in a heap after taking out a bus stop pole.

Amid the wreckage -- car parts and and glass all over the ground -- officers found a gun in Wilson's car.

"They was committing robberies in the car since last night."

In all six people were injured. The other four were transported with minor injuries.

The two suspects -- the most seriously hurt -- were taken to Ryder Trauma Center.
