Pick Pocket Thieves Being Sought After Pricey Purchases in Pinecrest

Police in Pinecrest are looking for three people they say were involved in stealing cash and credit cards from three different women last month – and making some pricey purchases with the victim’s money.

Surveillance video captured two men stealing a wallet from one victim’s purse at the Shaddai Restaurant off Pinecrest Parkway on November 16th. Susan Simone says she noticed the two men talking behind her and thought nothing of it. "I don't even know how they got in my purse," said Simone.

Two more victims say they also had wallets stolen from the Whole Foods as well as the PF Changs restaurant located at the Falls shopping mall.

Pinecrest Police say the thieves sit next to their victims and use a jacket to conceal what they're doing, stick their hand in a sleeve and then stick their hand in the purse.

Two credit cards from the victims were used at different Best Buy stores in the area – including two computers for just under $4,300 at the Pinecrest location and one for $3,100 at the Dadeland store - while another card was turned down when trying to purchase over $2,700 worth of items at the Saks Fifth Avenue located inside Dadeland Mall. "Next morning I looked at my credit card statement and there was a charge for almost $3,000 at Best Buy," explained Simone.

Detectives say they are looking for a woman who was also captured on camera. Anyone with information on the three people involved in these cases is asked to call Pinecrest Police or Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers.
