Tim Tebow Signs Minor League Contract With New York Mets

After a highly publicized tryout – and plenty of jokes about it – Tim Tebow appears to have found a Major League Baseball team willing to give him a chance.

Tebow has signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets. He will be sent to the team’s instructional league team in Port St. Lucie, site of the team's spring training complex

The former Heisman Trophy winner who also won two national titles as a quarterback for the Florida Gators, Tebow worked out for 28 teams last week in California and had reportedly drawn interest from as many as eight teams about a possible deal.

Tebow has not played organized baseball since 2005, when he was a high school junior in North Florida. He was drafted in 2010 by the NFL’s Denver Broncos and led the team to the playoffs in 2011, but was traded to the New York Jets and lasted one season before being released.

He spent one preseason each with the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles, but was cut before the regular season.
