Water Main Break Floods Miami Intersection, Nearby Business

Workers responded to a large water main break in Miami Thursday evening.

The 12-inch break was reported at 71st Street and Northeast 4th Court.

Footage showed a box truck in a large hole filled with water which was gushing out and filling the intersection.

City officials said there was no interruption of water service. They said the break seems to have been due to natural causes.

The break caused flooding to a nearby mechanic shop. The owner estimates it caused at least $60,000 in damage.

Crews will be working around the clock to make repairs and ensure water pressure remains at acceptable levels, officials said.

Commuters are advised to avoid the area through Friday afternoon.

No other information was immediately known.
