Woman Kidnapped in Boca Raton, Robbed in Broward: Police

The suspects drove the victim to a Publix on Commercial Boulevard in Oakland Park and told her to go inside and call someone to have money sent or they would kill her

Authorities are investigating after a woman said she was kidnapped in Boca Raton and driven to Broward County where she was then robbed.

Boca Raton Police said the woman told investigators she had walked to the Publix at 1001 South Federal Highway when she was approached by a Hispanic woman who told her she was new to the area and looking for an attorney's office.

The woman asked the victim if she would go with her and give her directions, but led her to a van where a Hispanic man was waiting. When the victim got into the van, the man locked the doors and demanded her money, police said.

The suspects drove the victim to a Publix on Commercial Boulevard in Oakland Park and told her to go inside and call someone to have money sent or they would kill her. The woman called an out-of-state relative and had her wire her some money.

While waiting for the money, the suspects drove the victim around the area. When the transfer was complete the victim withdrew the money and gave it to the two suspects, and they released her unharmed.

Police released surveillance images of the suspects' car, believed to be a tan Honda Odyssey. Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call police at 561-338-1344.
