Family's Home in Miami Shores Burglarized During Dorian Evacuation

Roger Mills says he and his family were in the Keys when neighbors alerted them that one of their windows was broken.

A family is looking for answers after surveillance video captures thieves burglarizing their Miami Shores home while they were seeking refuge from Hurricane Dorian.

Roger Mills says he and his family were in the Florida Keys when neighbors alerted them that one of their windows was broken.

Living room security cameras showed two hooded men rummaging through a desk and taking thousands of dollars worth of items.

"We have a 17-month-old and the big sigh of relief was that we were not home," Mills says.

According to Mills, the thieves stole $1,000 cash, designer watches, sunglasses, bags and a couple of cameras and laptops. In total, he estimates the men took between $10,000 to $15,000 worth of items.

"It's kind of eerie to think that someone was watching the house that closely," Mills says.

Detectives are now working with the family to find the men.
