Absentee Ballot Guidelines for Miami-Dade's 2014 Primary Elections

Miami-Dade County Elections has mailed absentee ballots to 187,000 voters for the Aug. 26th primary election.

Those sending in absentee ballots must remember the following:

  • The Elections Department must receive absentee ballots no later than 7 p.m. on Aug. 26th
  • Voters must sign the voter certificate on the outside of the absentee ballot envelope
  • The signature on the envelope must match the signature that is on file at the Election Department. To update a signature, voters can submit a voter registration application, which can be printed here or by calling the County's 3-1-1 Answer Center. Be sure to check the "signature update" box.
  • Voters should not allow anyone to mark their ballots unless they are unable to do so because of blindness, disability or failure to read or write.
  • Voters should not give their ballots to anyone other than someone that has been specifically named as a designee with the Elections Department.
  • Return postage is paid for Miami-Dade County. There is no need for someone else to mail in a voter's ballot.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Wednesday, Aug. 20th by 5 p.m. To request a ballot, call (305) 499-VOTE (8683), visit the Elections Department website, or send a request in writing or in person.
