Arrest Made in Expensive Wig Heist in Miami Gardens

25-year-old Tashambi Hamilton was caught after a multi-agency police search.

Police have arrested a suspect in a heist that occurred at a Miami Gardens wig store early Tuesday morning.

Sayon Tashambi Hamilton, 25, was caught after a multi-agency police search, according to an arrest affidavit.

The arrest affidavit says Hamilton, along with the other thieves, fled the scene in a U-haul truck before abandoning the vehicle and entering two awaiting vehicles in a separate location.

Miami Dade Aviation captured Hamilton leaving the second vehicle at Bunchee Park and hopping fences into other people's homes. K9 units moved in and found Hamilton hiding under a trailer, wrapped in a blue blanket.

The heist happened at Prime Wholesale Beauty Supply - Prime Trading International at 4712 Northwest 165th Street.

Surveillance footage showed the thieves used a U-Haul truck to smash through the door of the business. Once inside, they stole between $70,000 to $80,000 worth of high-end wigs, the owner said.

"They took all the expensive wigs," Rakib Hossain said.

Tashambi Hamilton's bond is set at $5,000.
