Police are investigating reports of baby sea turtles being abducted from their nest overnight on the beaches of Sunny Isles Beach.

Officials responded to the scene neat the 16500 block of Collins Avenue after 911 calls detailed reports of two males abducting an unknown amount of the animals from a nest in the area.

Witnesses were able to identify the car that the men left the scene in, with unconfirmed reports putting it back to an address in Pembroke Pines.

Sunny Isles Beach Police have turned the case over the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, who will handle the investigation.

Officials have not released any details about who they may be looking for at this time.
