Beachgoers Run Over By County Truck at Crandon Park

Three people enjoying a day at the beach ended up getting bruised and scraped after they were run over on the sand.

The incident happened Friday afternoon at Crandon Park.

A Miami-Dade Parks and Recreations employee driving a county pick-up truck hit the trio hanging out by the shore. The driver, identified as Kevin Gonzalez, stopped and called paramedics.

William Merlett, 16, Aurelien Bouaniche, 19 and Vicky Merlett, 20 suffered injuries in their lower extremities. The 16-year-old and Bouaniche were taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment. The 20-year-old was treated and released at the scene.

It’s unclear if the driver will face charges.
