Bobcat Catches Shark at South Florida Beach

A man walking in Vero Beach captured a photo of what he says is a bobcat dragging a four-foot shark out of the ocean.

John Bailey told NBC affiliate WPTV in an email he was walking in Sebastian Inlet State Park Monday night when he saw the bobcat eyeing the water. He said it lunged in and sunk its teeth into the small shark.

The bobcat dragged the fish to the shore but quickly dropped it and ran away. Bailey said he thinks he got too close and scared it off.

Amanda Nalley, Marine Fisheries Manager at the Florida and Wildlife Conservation Commission, told NBC bobcats are often seen wandering Florida beaches.
