Man's Body Found in Pool at Hollywood Home

Police were continuing to investigate Wednesday morning after the body of a man was found floating in the backyard pool of a Hollywood home late Tuesday.

Homicide detectives were at the home at 1326 Van Buren Street for most of the day Tuesday.

Investigators searched inside the house, which is listed for sale, for clues to explain a man's death.

"The realtor came to show the house and she saw a body in the pool," said neighbor, Julee Madlin.

"I just hope it was accidental and that there's no foul play involved," added neighbor, Ann Ralston.

Police are calling it a preliminary homicide investigation, but have not said if they believe the death was an accident or if they are looking for suspects.

They have yet to positively identify the body.

"They think they know who it is, but they've been very clear with me that they can't positively identify him," said Lori Tofexis, who lives next door.

She confirmed what NBC 6 found in property records, that the home belongs to Greg Platzer, 59, who runs a business in Michigan. Tofexis said she hasn't seen him since last week.

"A few days ago... mowing his lawn. Maybe four to five days ago was the last time I saw him," she said.

As police piece together what happened, Tofexis hopes there is no reason for alarm.

"When somebody is found dead in a pool you assume heart attack. That's the first thing that comes to mind," she said.

NBC 6 reached out to the realtor who reportedly found the body, but she declined to comment.
