Brevard Zoo Welcomes 2 Jaguar Cubs

Two jaguar cubs are the latest additions at Brevard Zoo in Melbourne.

Zoo officials say the cubs were deemed healthy Tuesday during their first veterinary exams. They were born last week to 11-year-old mother Masaya and 13-year-old father Mulac.

Florida Today reports officials don't yet know the sexes of the cubs. They are Masay's fourth litter. Her first cub resides at the San Diego Zoo. Two others live at the Chattanooga Zoo and another is at the nearby Jacksonville Zoo.

The birth came shortly after another of the zoo officials euthanized Zinga, a 10-year-old South African cheetah. She underwent unsuccessful surgery for a colon problem last month.
