A South Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for a 21-year-old fatal robbery.

The South Floida Sun Sentinel reports that 50-year-old Bennie Hall was sentenced this week. He was convicted in May of first-degree murder.

Authorities say Olga Parlante was found beaten and strangled in her Dania Beach apartment in March 1997. There were no suspects initially, but a palm print left at the scene got a hit from a statewide database of convicted felons in 2012.

The print matched to Hall, who was in prison on an unrelated drug conviction.
