A longtime teacher for the Broward County school district found himself behind bars for allegedly attempting to solicit a romantic relationship with a student, authorities said.
Vincent Grossi appeared in front of a bond court judge Thursday morning, where the 54-year-old was facing one count of being an authority figure who solicited for engaged in a romantic relationship with a minor. Grossi was given a $5,000 bond.
Grossi is currently a math teacher at Cypress Bay High School in Weston and has been with the school district for over 25 years, according to testimony from his lawyer during court proceedings.
It’s unknown what his status is with Broward County Schools is at this time.
The victim told detectives she was 16 when the alleged inappropriate behavior began. She would stay behind in class and talk about personal matters with Grossi, who would improve her grades and give her preferential treatment, an arrest report stated.
The victim said the relationship evolved into "a romantic nature" at around October 2018, when they first kissed. She told detectives it happened five more times, and on several occasions, Grossi grabbed her buttocks while they kissed.

The arrest form stated the relationship ceased a few weeks later when Grossi was reassigned, pending an internal investigation where other female students reported innappropriate behavior by the defendant.
The victim also told detectives she has cellphone footage of Grossi telling her she was the only girl he's kissed at school and that he would wait for her.
Grossi has a pending case against him relating to an arrest during a traffic stop for possession of cocaine, but officials have not said if he has been punished yet in that case.
