Robber Stole Purse From Mother With Her Kids at Weston Publix: BSO

Authorities are looking for a man they say stole a woman’s purse outside a Weston supermarket while she was with her two young children.

Broward Sheriff’s Office officials released surveillance video of the alleged robber outside the Publix located at 2465 Glades Circle on July 19th. Officers say the man grabbed the victim’s purse in the parking lot, tearing her shirt in the process, before getting away.

"She was just about to place her purse over her head when she was violently attacked by a robber," BSO spokesperson Gina Carter said.

He was seen getting into a vehicle, which witnesses say may have been a black Ford Mustang with tinted windows.

The purse contained the victim’s phone, wallet and bank cards among other items. An attempt was made an hour after the robbery to use one of her credit cards at a store in Lauderdale Lakes, BSO officials said.

"Obviously they were all traumatized by the incident. This was a very bad day for them but we're hoping that we're going to be able to find some justice for them," Carter said.

The robber is described as a black man in his 20’s, around six feet tall with short hair and was wearing all black clothing at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
