Building Evacuated in Fort Lauderdale After Gas Line Struck

A building in Fort Lauderdale was evacuated Wednesday after construction crews struck a six inch gas line.

Chopper footage showed emergency crews at the scene at 1891 Southeast 17th Street after a worker struck the line around 9:30 a.m.

Officials evacuated the nearby building and closed westbound lanes of 17th Street before capping the leak and reopening the road just before noon.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
