A burglary suspect added a hit-and-run to his crime list after a police officer witnessed an attempted car burglary on Miami Beach.
The attempted burglary occurred at 1st street and Washington avenue on Miami Beach Saturday afternoon.
According to police, a foot chase ensued and the suspect jumped into a waiting car and fled from police. During the pursuit, the fleeing vehicle struck a cyclist while traveling westbound on the MacArthur Causeway, near Palm Island.
The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital with multiple broken bones. Officials said the injuries are serious, but do not appear to be life-threatening.
The suspect is still at large and is described as a heavy set black male between 5'7 and 5'9.
Police are looking for a 2013 or 2014 white, four-door Chrysler 300 with dark-tinted windows.
