Motorists can expect closures on the Florida Turnpike from Wednesday night to Thursday evening as construction to widen a two-mile stretch of the Turnpike gets underway.
The two-mile stretch of the Turnpike extending from north of Sunset Drive/Southwest 72nd Street to Bird Road/Southwest 40th Street will be widened from six lanes to 10 lanes, including Express Lanes, similar to those already in operation on Interstate 95.
In addition, westbound Bird Road will be widened from two to three lanes between Southwest 119th Court and Southwest 122nd Avenue.
During construction, motorists will see overnight closures on the Turnpike between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday night through Thursday night.
Driver may also see closures on local roads, especially Bird Road and Southwest 117th Avenue.
