Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Jensen Beach Boater

The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a boater who went missing off Jensen Beach.

The Palm Beach Post reports search crews began looking for 66-year-old Stuart Savanuck when he didn't return a rental boat Monday evening, the Coast Guard said. He had left at about 10 a.m. Monday in a 23-foot beige center-console boat he rented from Jensen Beach Boat Rentals, the Coast Guard said, and was heading south to fish.

He was expected back by 5 that evening.

Crews covered nearly 31,000 square miles between Port St. Lucie and West End, a town on Grand Bahama, the Coast Guard said. They officially suspended the search at 7:45 p.m. Saturday.
