About 250 residents have been evacuated Friday night from a Dania Beach apartment building after a rooftop swimming pool started leaking.
Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue responded after 7 p.m. to The Place at Dania Point at 180 East Dania Beach Boulevard, according to BSO.
The 10,000-gallon pool leaked into several apartments in the eight-story building, BSO said. At least 144 were affected.
Fire rescue found the leak came from the piping of the pool and that water leaked down to the lobby. About two-thirds of water had leaked by the time fire rescue was able to secure it.
The residents temporarily sought refuge inside Broward County transit buses. The city is working to get the displaced residents housed at nearby hotels at discounted rates.
Officials urged people to avoid the area due to multiple road closures.
