Two Killed in Nightclub Shooting in Daytona Beach

Two people are dead following a shooting at a nightclub in Daytona Beach early Thursday.

According to a report from NBC affiliate WESH in Orlando, the shooting occurred at The Biarritz nightclub, located at 309 Pearl Street.

The shooting occurred around 2:45 a.m. Daytona Beach police say the shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation. A group of four to five people started beating a man unconscious, when another man approached and started shooting at the group, authorities told WESH.

One of the shooting victims was pronounced dead at the scene, while another died later at the hospital. Police tell WESH that witnesses are being uncooperative, but that surveillance video was recovered from the scene.

The man who was being beaten is reportedly known to police and was wanted on a warrant for domestic battery and burglary, police said. He refused transport to the hospital.

Police say the shooting is not connected to nearby Bethune Cookman University.

One gun has been recovered. Police believe three weapons were involved in the incident.

The identities of the victims have not been released.
