Dolphins Game Preview: Week Four vs. Chargers

The Dolphins will try once again for their first win of the season against the Chargers on Sunday

The 0-3 Miami Dolphins will host the 1-2 Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.

Miami has put together two consecutive competitive first halves, but has fallen apart in the second half of each game. The Dolphins have been outscored 133-16 through three games and things may not get any easier against Los Angeles. Despite their poor early record, the Chargers are considered a playoff contender and they have come close to winning all of their games in 2019.

Josh Rosen started for the Dolphins a week ago and he will get the assignment once again in this one. Rosen was decent in last week's loss, but he was unable to find the end zone. The 22-year old went 18-39 for 200 yards in the loss to Dallas and he was not picked off. Rosen had two interceptions in limited play before the game, making the lack of turnovers against the Cowboys a promising sign.

Los Angeles quarterback Philip Rivers remains a force in the NFL, with a solid 98.5 rating through three games. Rivers has been picked off twice and he has thrown five touchdowns thus far. Against a lackluster Miami defense, Rivers could be primed for a big day on Sunday. One issue for Rivers thus far has been with sacks, with ten on the season and five last week alone.

The Chargers could have a new look on the ground in this game, with Melvin Gordon potentially available for limited action. Los Angeles has not added Gordon to the active roster as of yet, but has until Saturday afternoon to do so. Gordon has not practiced much, but could still be a factor against Miami's poor defnese. Austin Ekeler figures to see the most action on the ground, even if Gordon suits up for this game.

Miami's quarterbacks have been sacked 13 times this season, with Rosen and Ryan Fitzpatrick seeing similar struggles in that department. Los Angeles' defensive line has struggled this season, which could mean Rosen has more time to work with in this game. The Chargers have four sacks in 2019, which is the same total the Dolphins have compiled.

Miami listed Bobby McCain, Reshad Jones, Albert Wilson, Jesse Davis and Trent Harris as questionable on the injury report. In addition, Jomal Wiltz is out with a groin injury.

Sunday's kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
