The Doral Police Department said motor officer Mauro Oliveira is recovering after he was airlifted to the hospital after a crash.
The incident happened Friday at Northwest 112th Avenue and Northwest 90th Street.
The officer, who is a 10-year veteran on the force, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition with minor injuries.
"We are happy to report that DPD Motor Officer Mauro Oliveira is recuperating and his condition is improving," DPD said on Saturday. "Thanks to all for the outpouring of support for Officer Oliveira and our Police Department."
The officer was patrolling the city on his motorcycle when the incident happened.
"He has a good bill of health considering what could have happened," said Doral Police Chief Hernan Organvidez.
No other vehicles were involved. Police are now looking into how the incident happened.
"Driving a motorcycle, eight to 10 hours a day in Dade County and in Doral, with our traffic, it's one of the most dangerous jobs in our department," said Organvidez.
