“Fast Lane Friday” Takes Over Homestead-Miami Speedway

Dozens of drivers spent their Friday night in the fast lane at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. “Fast Lane Friday” is an opportunity for drivers with a lead foot to speed without any consequences.

The sound of wheels squealing, engines revving and the smell of burned rubber fueled the senses and provided a rush for drivers who have a need for speed.

Drivers rolled up to the speedway with sedans and luxury cars, but under the hoods the engines are souped up and ready to tear up the track.

The family friendly event sponsored by the Ticket Clinic provides a safe environment for thrill seekers.

And a safe place is needed if it discourages reckless illegal street racing. Police say last month on I-595 two cars racing westbound caused an accident that killed an18-year-old girl. According to state statistics in 2013 there were 442 racing violations in Miami-Dade County, and 112 in Broward County.
