Firefighters Battle Blaze in Little Havana

Miami Fire Rescue extinguished a fire that set a strip mall ablaze at southwest 8th street between 11th and 12th avenue Sunday morning.

Fire Rescue received a 911 call from a passerby who observed large amounts of smoke coming from the rooftops of multiple businesses.

"The fire made its way into the attic ans several areas of a dropped ceiling which made it difficult for firefighters to reach the flames," said captain Ignatius Carroll, City of Miami Fire Rescue.

The intense smoke and flames took about an hour to contain.
